Small Cells are a critical component of LTE-A and subsequent 5G networks. Small Cells are low powered RANs (radio access nodes) that function as small cellular base stations for mobile voice/text/data/video traffic. Office buildings, campuses, stadiums, and concert venues are just some of the sites requiring high levels of network reliability, coverage, quality of service and security. Integrating in-building small cells into these types of venues provides the infrastructure and bandwidth to satisfy the capacity needs of mobile traffic. Applied Computer Solutions is doing more than just helping deploy and integrate small cell platforms for coverage and bandwidth holes. The challenges of Enterprise Small Cell bring another stakeholder into the process, the client’s IT department. We have the skills to work with the Service Provider and the IT department to position the Service Provider for Mobile UC, Location Services, IoT, M2M and other Small Cell-enabled offerings.
Urban and Enterprise Small Cell (IOT & M2M)
Mobile broadband traffic demand continues to increase at exponential rates. Carriers and operators are satisfying this growth with the installation of macro-cells to provide coverage. But the ever-increasing demand for sufficient bandwidth as a result of the Internet of Things compels carriers to focus on network densification. The proliferation of in-building small cells provides additional coverage and spectrum reuse without requiring the costly investment in macro-cell deployment.
Machine to Machine (M2M) and the Internet of Things (IoT) will further expand the need for small cell solutions. ACS works with the operators to leverage Small Cell coverage to provide mini-ecosystems of IoT or M2M support environments.
